  • FAQ

    • Will My System Be Covered by My Home Insurance?
When you install rooftop solar panels, they are considered part of your home under most insurance plans. In many cases, covering your solar panels under your home insurance won’t increase your premiums or alter the plan. That being said, it's important to check the details of your policy to confirm you have enough coverage to pay for repairs including the cost of the solar panel system. You might need to increase the amount of coverage to account for the cost of the system, which can then raise your premium. Every insurance policy is different, which is why you should definitely call your insurance company to confirm that your PV panels are covered when you plan on going solar.
    • Will My Solar Panels Work in a Blackout?
It depends – if your solar panel system is still connected to the power grid, then your power will still shut off during a blackout. This is less because your solar panels aren't functioning, and more to protect emergency responders and utility workers from potential electrocution from your panels sending power back to the grid while working to restore power. However, if you have a battery backup system installed in your home, then you won't need to worry about blackouts.
    • What Are the Environmental Benefits of Solar?
Not only does solar installation reduce your dependence on fossil fuels, but also reduces your overall carbon footprint, cutting down on pollution that damages both the environment and human health.
    • Are There Financing Options?
We offer customized financing solutions to allow solar to fit every budget. From a lease to direct ownership, our team will work with you, even offering a $0 down option so you can get started enjoying your solar right away.
    • Will Installing Solar Save Me Money?
Utilizing solar can save you BIG on energy bills as you aren’t pulling energy from the grid. Additionally, if you ever sell your property, solar panels can boost your property value, leading to even more money in your pocket.
    • Will My Roof Work for Solar?
California is the perfect place for solar. Because no two properties are alike, no two solar installations are alike, and depending on the slope and direction of your roof, as well as your energy needs, your solar requirements will vary. Our skilled technicians will evaluate your property and offer honest recommendations on the size and scope of your installation.
    • How Long Will My System Last?
At SolarUnion, we understand that solar is an investment that should stand the test of time, that is why we offer a 25-year performance guarantee as well as a 25-year roof integrity warranty. So not only will the system last, but we will come out and fix any underperforming systems at no cost to you.
    • Will My Solar Panels Work When It is Cloudy?
While solar panels perform best when it is sunny out, our solar panels are the best in the industry, and can generate energy in both direct and indirect sunlight. Additionally, your system will work seamlessly with the city’s grid to offset times when your system isn’t running fully.
    • How Does Solar Work?
When most people think of solar, they think strictly of the panels. However, in reality, it is a system consisting of multiple technologies all working together. Our solar panels produce electricity from sunlight and the inverter changes that energy from direct current to alternating current, allowing you to use the energy throughout your property and sending the excess to city, in order to offset your utility costs.
